The Estonian Swedes, Estonia-Swedes (Swedish: estlandssvenskar, "Estonia Swedes", colloquially aibofolke, "Island People"; Estonian: eestirootslased), or Coastal Swedes (Estonian: rannarootslased) are a Swedish-speaking minority traditionally residing in the coastal areas and islands of what is now western and northern Estonia.

In turn, when the Estonian Swedes came to Sweden they were told to assimilate as best they could, and not talk about the Nazi evacuation. And assimilate they did. After 1989, there was a new Swedish revival in Estonia – exiled people, former owners, came back to visit. The Estonian Swedes demanded a guarantee to the position of the Swedish minister of ethnic affairs with the government of Estonia, a guarantee to Swedish representation in the Parliament, cultural autonomy, equal rights to the Swedish language on the level of parish administration and in court cases concerning Swedish, a judge with Swedish-language skills.
